There’s a store in Oriliia, Ontario called Dr. Comics. Not surprisingly, they sell comic books and various other related merchandise and nerdbilia. Not content to enjoy the constant stress of running a physical retail business in an internet world, they have decided to start an annual comic convention as well, because blood pressure, schmud pressure.
And it seems they’re pretty good at it, too. The response from vendors and celebrity guests has been so great that the projected size of the convention has doubled. Two months before the convention date they had to book a larger venue because the original location wasn’t big enough to handle the growing size of the event.
I’m telling you this because I will have a table in Artist Alley at the Orillia Comic Con on May 21st at the Barnfield Point Recreation Centre, 500 Atherley Road, Orillia. It will be Table 64, in fact. Find it on the map, meet me at the convention.
I’ll be selling and signing copies of “All I Wanted To Do Was Take Over The World” Volumes 1 & 2, as well as “Life Among The Molepeople.” We will also be giving away “Yer Mom’s A Podcast” souvenir fridge magnets (while supplies last) and you just know you want some of that action.
So on May 21st make your way to Orillia (if you’re not already there) and check out the comic con. As you wander around that huge hall full of Daleks, Imperial Stormtroopers, and superheroes, stop by Table 64 and say hi. Look for the tall guy in the kilt; it’ll probably be me. While you’re there you can also see four of the most iconic cars in modern filmed fiction.
And as always, try to be nice to each other.
