Update on last week’s blog post: Kim and her new heart are now home. She was discharged from hospital yesterday, a mere eight days after transplant surgery, after a surprisingly speedy recovery.
She continues to inspire friends and strangers alike. At this rate, she’ll be running marathons by next weekend.
Happy Canada Day.
One hundred and forty-nine years old and still going strong, Canada is number one in the world for police officers in red tunics. We’re also ranked fifth worldwide for polar bear porn.
I have been a Canadian for nearly a third of the nation’s existence and I wouldn’t dream of living anywhere else.
If you happen to be in the Brampton area, stop by Chinguacousy Park for the Canada Day celebrations. My buddy Bill will be the MC at the bandshell, with headliners July Talk.
This weekend I’ll be doing my part to promote international relations on behalf of Canada. (You’re welcome.)
If you happen to be in northeastern Iowa Saturday, stop by the Elkader Opera House in Clayton County and play a fun game of “Spot The Canadian.” Also, there will be a free show.
Whatever you do this weekend, try to be nice to each other.
